Christmas is just around the corner!

This half term started with a bang as the children all enjoyed some sparklers and fireworks in the sensory garden. Now we move on to preperations for Christmas and our end of term production on the 18th December. This year the title is Steps Twelve days of Christmas. All children will be in the production.
Many thanks to everyone who gave so generously in the Mayors Parade in Loughborough. As the Mayors charity of the year all proceeds from the day will be donated to Steps.
On Wednesday 10th November we have a trip out with the children to see the opening of the annual fair in Loughborough. The Mayor Jill Vincent will be opening it this year and Steps children will be offered free rides during the morning.
Steps have launched a new group called Friends Of Steps which is a group of parents who meet evry month to look at fundraising ideas.
Please keep the donations rolling in for Steps we now have nearly 40 children on our register and so need to support our families. There is a real need for our work to continue!

Autumn Fayre

Welcome back!

Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to the new term. We are welcoming a lot of new children this term and hope that all our new families will enjoy their time with Steps. On the 9th of October we are having an Autumn Fayre. Please start and collect all of your unwanted bric a brac! A letter will follow with full details.

Holidays are coming!

This has been a very busy few days for us at Steps. We have had a lot of new families visit us and also parties to say goodbye and good luck to our children who are leaving to start school in September.
We close on Friday 16th July for the summer holidays and term will start again on Monday 6th September.
Just a reminder that our barbeque will take place on Saturday 17th July from 3.00-6.00p.m. If you haven't got your ticket then please contact Steps to purchase one.
The Mayor of Charnwood Jill Vincent will be in attendance.

Down on the farm!

The children had two lovely visits to the farm last week in glorious sunshine! They all had a tractor ride, a picnic, a go on the rope swing and played on the hay bales.
The children also last week put their feet in custard and ate bananas at the same time!! Strange combination! We are busy planning our end of term barbeque and disco for Saturday 17th July! It promises to be great event.
A great week was had by all.

Just wanted to say its been 5 weeks since our new website launch and we are 41% up on hits over the same time last year. More importantly we have, through Just Giving received a valuable boost our funds. Although we cannot contact you direct with Just Giving, we have received sums since launch £340.00, £410.00, £215.00, £30.00 and £661.20! If any of these came from you then please accept our heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Every penny means such a lot in terms of what we can offer our children and we are so grateful. Thank you so much!!!!!!

Ellie says......

My daddy is doing the National 3 Peaks challenge on June 11th 2010 to raise money for Steps. Daddy is a Trustee there and he tries to raise money for Steps whenever he can. I go there every Friday with mummy for conductivetherapy that really helps me get stronger. Daddy and a team of his colleagues from Caterpillar are doing the 450 mile drive between the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, will trek the 27 miles up them with a total ascent of 9,800 feet. The aim is to complete the challenge in 24 hours! As long as he gets back safely that will be enough.

Congratulations and well done!

Congratulations to Farook, Najma and Umar who climbed Ben Nevis to help raise money for Steps. They completed the climb on a beautiful day and then ate their sandwiches on the summit! Thank you so much for acieving this for us!
Congratulations and thank you also to Neil Davies who ran the London Marathon for us and has actually raised a staggering total of £3,500! Thanks so much Neil for all your hard efforts and thank you to everyone who has supported Neil in this.
The children are all enjoying a lovely morning at the theatre watching The Gruffalo!

Welcome back to Steps everyone, hope you all had a good rest and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.
We are looking forward to the next few action packed weeks! If you haven't returned your forms for the activity week then please do so now as some days are getting really full.

Half Term News!

The children have been very busy this week making and trying out fruit salad as part of the topic on 'myself'. Everyone is looking forward to the half term holiday and hopefully some more sunshine.
Congratulations to Indila as she has passed her Early Years Professional status! Indila has worked really hard with this and as her award letter stated, Early Years Professionals are the key to raising the quality of early years provision.
The date for the end of term disco and barbeque has been changed to Saturday 17th July. The new times are 3.00p.m-6.00p.m. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on this date.

Thank You to Arthur!

Last Friday 14th May, out of the blue a gentleman called Arthur came to visit us. He explained that he had just had his 90th Birthday, and for his party he had asked for no presents but instead donations to Steps! So he presented us with a cheque for £100.00! He was delighted to be shown round our facilities and meet the children. Thank you so much Arthur!

Mountain climb in aid of Steps

Good luck to the Sabat family who are climbing Ben Nevis in aid of Steps on the 5th June! Sponsor forms are at Steps for you to fill in. We really wish them luck and hope that the sun shines for them.

Many thanks also to the Emmanuel Church in Loughborough for their kind donation after their talk on Steps and the work we do.

The children have been talking about emotions this week and the highlight of the week was icing biscuits and putting faces on them. The children really enjoyed eating smiley face biscuits afterwards!

Pizzas on the menu

The children have really enjoyed making pizzas this week and have been out in the sensory garden and the playground as part of our theme on our senses.

We have had a visit from Andy Reed MP for North West Leicestershire and a big thank you to Caterpillar for giving us a donation of £2,000!

Wow what a party!

Wow what a party! Our 15th Birthday party was brilliant! Many thanks to everyone who attended and to Danny John Jules for entertaining the children.

Congratulations to Neil Davies who completed the London Marathon. He completed in 4 hours 24 minutes! Neil has collected around £1,700.00 for Steps and the money is still coming in!

This week has seen lots of sunshine at Steps and the children have really enjoyed going out into the play area. Just a reminder that we have a long weekend this weekend as it is Bank Holiday. Let's hope that the sun continues to shine for us all!

Steps 15th Birthday Celebration

Steps is a hive of activity this week as we prepare for our big 15th birthday bash on Saturday 24th April. The party starts at 4.00p.m and finishes at 7.00p.m. We are really lucky in the fact that we have Danny John Jules from the Storymaker to entertain the children! There is also a party tea and disco to follow.

We have come such a long way and this week is a massive landmark in history for us. The website is also going live and it is looking fantastic! Thanks so much to all of you out there for helping us to make this so fantastic. Also thanks to our lovely children for posing in the photos on the site! Photos of our party will appear next week!

First week back at Steps after the Easter holidays

First week back at Steps after the Easter holidays! The children all seem really well and everyone seems rested after the Easter break. Preparations are underway for our birthday party on the 24th of April! This will be a very busy term at Steps as we are hoping to interview for new staff for the creche opening in Spetember and raise enough money to begin the new build!

Good luck to Neil Davies who is running the London Marathon in aid of Steps!! We will be there in spirit with you Neil, look after those feet!!
